A literary evening at the Kesslermühle - Wolfgang Schorlau presents his new work "Black Forest"

Last evening, we experienced a cultural highlight at the Kesslermühle that delighted our guests: Wolfgang Schorlau, one of Germany’s most renowned crime writers, presented his new book “Black Forest”. The literary evening not only offered exciting insights into the work, but also an atmospheric interplay of literature and regional ties.

An evening full of literature and Black Forest flair

The reading took place in our festively decorated event room, which provided the perfect setting for this special occasion with its cozy lighting and a touch of elegance. Wolfgang Schorlau began the evening with an introduction to the world of his protagonist Georg Dengler, who solves a mysterious case in the Black Forest in “Black Forest”.

Schorlau captivated the audience with his expressive reading, which made it easy for the listeners to immerse themselves in the plot. Not only the suspense and the depth of character of the protagonist became tangible, but also the mysterious atmosphere of the Black Forest, which is more than just a backdrop in this work – it is a character in its own right.

A special highlight: dialect passages with Claudia Meisinger

Claudia Meisinger set a special accent that evening. She took over the passages in which Dengler speaks to his mother in regional dialect. With her authentic and heartfelt performance, she brought these scenes to life and provided many smiles and a deep connection to the region. The guests were delighted with how lively and realistic the characters became.

The work: “Black Forest”

In “Black Forest”, Wolfgang Schorlau takes up current social issues and combines them with a gripping murder mystery. The plot is set against the fascinating backdrop of the Black Forest – a region full of secrets, traditions and myths. Schorlau is a master at incorporating these special features into his work while at the same time offering a critical perspective on social developments.
